Meet the Founder, Malky
One of Malky’s colleagues jumping on here to give her a proper introduction!
The RebKan PR blog is a new addition to the website and it’s a place where we love to share our industry insights, and more relevantly, we hope, resources and tips that can support wellness brands to thrive.
We’re putting a face to the name and blog and asking Malky a few questions so that you can get to know her a little better, so here goes!
So Malky, tell us more about the story behind RebKan PR?
After working within agencies and supporting various brands to achieve their PR and broader business goals for over a decade, I decided to take the plunge and form RebKanPR in 2016 focusing on beauty and lifestyle.
I recently refreshed RebKanPR and shifted my niche to wellness, applying my knowledge and experience to this exciting and growing area for consumers.
I love seeking out brands with a unique essence, and enjoy creating engaging content to bring them forth to the market. I enjoy meeting with journalists and clients; this is essentially what inspired me to pursue a career in PR. No two clients are ever the same, and there is always an opportunity to learn something new.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Passion for the industry and working with meaningful brands that make a positive impact on people's well-being. The industry is evolving and is providing me with new and exciting challenges that in turn keep me growing professionally and personally.
I like to get up at 6:30am and try not to snooze more than once. I don't leave bed immediately; I meditate for 10-15 minutes. Once I'm up, I have my morning cup of strong coffee, set-up up for the day and run through my to-do list. Sticking to my early morning routine sets me up for the rest of the day.
Any top tips for new wellness brands hitting the market?
I particularly enjoy working with new brands who are finding their way, supporting them to establish their PR and marketing processes early on in their journey, so I regularly share my top tips and insights right here on my blog for any brand looking for new growth areas, and wellness brands just starting out.
I’m passionate about sharing information that I believe will be useful and more importantly, practical, and accessible. Common themes I cover are the importance of authenticity, consistency, transparency, strong story building, and feedback.
What wellness trends do you predict for the coming year?
I’m seeing a strong uptick around certain themes in wellness, such as journaling, gratitude lists, multi-use products, and sleep-syncing.
The areas of meditation and natural supplements continue to capture the consumer, and are going from strength to strength.
Finally, tell us more about your passions outside of running your PR agency.
My yoga practice is regular, which is important to me. I’m obsessed with film and cinema, my pet rabbits are my world, and I love going on new travel adventures.
